I remember the day. I had only been playing for a few short months and I was still new. But a lot of practice went into those months and a lot of distance had already been gained.

I was still fresh and probably shouldn’t have been even using distance drivers. But my buddy Hunter gave me the Sheriff. And I’m glad he did. That day I was playing with him and one other person. I got to hole 6 of my local course.

When I stepped up to the teepad, I did something that I hadn’t ever done before – I threw the discs and it went over 300 feet – through countless trees, brush, and everything else in the woods. But it made it all the way to the basket. It was parked right underneath.

Today, we’re going to be looking at distance drivers. This list I’ve put together of the 17 best disc golf distance drivers is full of some of the best drivers in the game. Discs that will help you break 300, 400, or even 500 feet. But real quick, there are a couple of things you need to know about how to get the ultimate distance out of your disc.

Flight ratings: how do we get max distance?

When it comes to getting maximum distance out of your discs, you first and foremost want to be throwing distance drivers. I know, epiphany, right? We’re obviously already on the same page.

Also, all of the flight ratings are important when trying to get maximum distance. But the most important ratings are speed and glide. Turn and fade determine stability, but your disc has to be fast and it has to fly far.

So I would recommend distance drivers with at least a 12 or higher speed and a 5 or higher glide rating. Almost every disc on this list meets those requirements.

Drivers Disc Software

Word of caution

Beginners should not even consider the discs on this list. All of these max distance drivers are really hard to throw, are very overstable, and require a lot of technique and skill to throw.

In order to throw the discs on this list, you need to be at least an intermediate disc golf player. If you’re a beginner, I would recommend starting with some beginner discs in the post below.

If you’re at least an intermediate player or higher, let’s get into what you’re here for!

The 17 Best Disc Golf Distance Drivers

1. Innova Boss – 13, 5, -2, 3

Best for: advanced players only

The Innova Boss is a truly a world record breaking disc. In 2016, David Wiggins Jr. threw a 156 gram RPro Boss 1,109.8 feet to break the “Longest Backhand Flight Distance (Men’s)” record. Now granted this was thrown with tailwind and for maximum distance, but still, the disc went 1,108 feet! Some of the longest disc golf holes are only 600-700 feet.

Before the record was broken, it currently sat at 863 feet set by Simon Lizotte with a 157 gram Innova Blizzard Boss. So the Boss has been busy!

2. Discraft Zeus – 12, 5, -1, 3

Best for: advanced players only

The Zeus is a fantastic new distance driver from Discraft that initially started out as the Kong. After a lot of hype, Discraft changed the name to the Zeus – king of the skies. InfiniteDiscs.com states, “the Zeus is a go to driver for power throwers looking for max distance and consistency.”

3. Innova Destroyer – 12, 5, -1, 3

Best for: intermediate, advanced players

The Destroyer has been one of the most reliable distance drivers for over a decade. Infinite states that, “for less experienced players, the Destroyer excels for forehand throws. The Destroyer is overstable, but has a degree of turn to help provide incredible glide and distance. Intermediate players will get more distance on forehand throws with the Destroyer than just about any other disc.”

4. Dynamic Discs Sheriff – 13, 5, -1, 2

Best for: intermediate, advanced players

Oh, man, I LOVE the Sheriff. I’ve recommended this disc in almost every discs post that I possibly could have. The Sheriff is a fantastic distance driver great for those transitioning into intermediate play. Advanced players can really use this disc for distance, as it’s meant to fly far as f*ck. This disc is truly the distance multi-tool in my bag.

High glide and decent speed, along with moderate turn and fade, means that this disc will really go far.

5. Infinite Discs Pharaoh – 13, 6, -1, 2

Best for: intermediate, advanced players

I really like the Pharaoh. It reminds me of the Sheriff, which as you just read, I also really like. Both of these discs are max distance drivers and are widely popular. The Pharaoh is just a newer addition to the distance driver game brought to you by none other than Infinite Discs. They just pumped up the glide on this bad boy to pretty much say, “F*ck yeah! Let it fly!”

Here’s what InfiniteDiscs.com says about it: “the Pharaoh is thequintessential distance driver, built for a high speed release and maximum distance. The fade is not overpowering, making this a distance driver that will work wonders even for intermediate players.”

6. Innova Wraith – 11, 5, -1, 3

Best for: intermediate, advanced players

Even though the flight ratings might not indicate it as such, the Innova Wraith is one of the fastest, farthest flying discs on the planet…and it has two world records to back it up.

The first record is for fastest thrown disc. In 2013, Simon Lizotte threw a 130 gram Innova Blizzard Wraith an astounding 89.5 miles per hour to break the “Highest Throw Speed (MPH)” record.

The other record is for women’s distance. That’s why the Wraith made this list. In 2016, Jennifer Allen hucked a 151 gram Innova Starlite Wraith 569 feet to set the mark for women with the record for “Longest Backhand Flight Distance (Women’s).”

Apparently, Wraiths are pretty good. You can grab one here on InfiniteDiscs.com.

7. Legacy Cannon – 14, 5, -3, 3

Best for: intermediate, advanced players

The Cannon is special in that it’s another world record holding disc. In 2014, Jason Cortella threw a 168 gram Legacy Icon Cannon a ridiculous 624 feet with a forehand throw to break the “Longest Forehand/Sidearm Flight Distance” record.

Besides the record, the Cannon is meant for speed and distance. With a speed of 14 and a glide of 5, Legacy wanted this disc to do just that. This is a max distance disc at its finest.

8. Innova Shryke – 13, 6, -2, 2

Best for: intermediate, advanced players

The Shryke is a very popular and relatively new distance driver that has filled the “go-to distance driver” need for a lot of disc golfers recently. The huge amount of glide, along with decent turn and a fair amount of fade, help to make this disc a tremendous distance grabber. Once this disc goes up, it stays up for a long time.

The Shryke is great for long range control and wide open fairways. It can be used by intermediate or advanced players, with advanced throwers seeing the max distance benefit.

9. Westside Discs King – 14, 5, -1.5, 3
Drivers disc soft lite

Best for: intermediate, advanced players

The King is a ridiculously fast distance driver that flies REALLY far and tends to stay a bit straighter than the flight ratings suggest. This could be a good distance driver for intermediate players with decent power.

Drivers Disc Soft

If thrown correctly, this disc is one of the farthest flying discs on this list (aside from the boss). It is a consistent 400+ foot drive disc for almost all advanced players regardless of arm strength. In the case of the King, less is more.

10. Prodigy D1 – 13, 5, 0, 3

Best for: advanced players only

Ltd

The D1 is a very popular, ultra-fast, maximum distance driver from Prodigy. It’s very overstable and requires a very fast throw and a powerful arm to be handled correctly. The D1 is similar in design and flight to the King from #9. The D1 is said to also have great grip (especially in bad weather) and just the right amount of flexibility.

InfiniteDiscs.com states that this disc, though very overstable, isn’t a “meathook.” They also state that the D1 is a “fantastic driver for power throwers, windy shots, forehand throws, and strategic doglegs.” This disc is an absolute Beast if you can throw over 400+ feet. It just goes. Period.

11. Innova Katana – 13, 5, -3, 3

Best for: advanced players

Drivers Disc Soft Ltd

The Katana is a really cool disc from Innova that features a wicked high-speed turn and ending low-speed fade. Innova calls this disc the “sidewinder on steroids.” The Katana is great for huge turnover throws, tailwinds, and intense shot shaping. It’s capable of massive distance but is very hard to consistently hit a target with.

This disc is fun sometimes but I only use this disc for a couple of specific shot types. In other words, it’s not one of my regular discs. Still a cool distance disc, though.

12. MVP Teleport – 14, 5, -1.5, 2.5

Best for: intermediate, advanced players

The Teleport distance driver features a straight-stable design in MVP’s signature double mold plastic. Even though there is a fair amount of turn, it seems like this disc is a bit more overstable than the flight ratings suggest. In short, this is a tough disc to throw for most players. But it has plenty of speed, stability, and glide to keep it in the air for a long time (if you’ve got the arm for it).

With the design and flight ratings, the Teleport has the potential to be one of the longest-throwing max distance discs on the market. The Teleport for good intermediate throwers is capable of a consistent 300 to 375 foot throw. Advanced players will consistently see a 375 to 450 foot throw.

13. Discmania DD2 “Frenzy”/DD3 “Cloudbreaker”

Best for: intermediate/advanced players

So for this spot, I’ve chosen to put 2 discs because both of these discs deserve to be on this list (but I didn’t want to take up 2 spots).

The DD2 Frenzy and the DD3 Cloudbreaker are two really awesome discs from Discmania and are both super long distance drivers. The DD2 is older and the DD3 is new to the end of 2019. The DD2 reigned supreme for Discmania for a long time until the DD3 came out. Today, I would say that both of these discs are fantastic for distance.

With flight ratings of 13, 5, -2, 2, the DD2 is a bit more understable and a little friendlier for intermediate players. The DD3 has ratings of 12, 5, -1, 3, which might seem a bit slower, but it has the same glide and it is a bit more overstable. This can mean that more advanced players can really make this baby soar. So, DD2 for intermediate players and the DD3 for more advanced players. Both will get you max distance, just at different skill levels.

14. Latitude 64 Bolt – 13, 6, -2, 3

Best for: intermediate, advanced players

InfiniteDiscs.com states that, “the Bolt is one of the easiest high speed drivers to throw.” With high glide and a fair amount of turn, the Bolt can be used by players of all skill levels to really grab the distance that they’re looking for.

The understability makes the bolt a little bit friendlier for transitioning intermediate players, while advanced players with strong arms can really take advantage of the glide and stability to throw this disc super far.

Drivers Disc Soft Lite

15. Discraft Crank – 13, 5, -2, 2

Best for: intermediate, advanced players

The Crank, according to Discraft, “is the fastest, most controllable max distance golf driver you’ve ever thrown.” They indicate that the Crank is a disc built for disc golfers looking for big distance and can help you get that distance while maintaining accuracy.

Because it has a decent amount of turn, this disc could be a suitable transition disc for intermediate players. But don’t take the Crank for granted. If you’ve got the arm strength, this disc will fly.

Drivers Disc Soft Light

Also, new versions of the Crank in ESP plastic are more durable than ever and will feature the universal flight ratings number system (with Discraft’s stability rating as the 5th number)!

16. Innova Ape – 13, 5, 0, 4

Fust dipl. ing ag r.wagner driver download for windows 10. Best for: advanced players only

The Ape is one of those discs that really pushes the limit for big arm power throwers. InfiniteDiscs.com states that, “unless you can drive more than 400 feet, this won’t provide maximum distance for backhand throws…the Ape is designed for ultra power throwers…” Flexradio/openhpsdr.org/acquisition logic driver download for windows.

This disc is extremely overstable so it is definitely not recommended for beginners or intermediate throwers. This is an advanced disc and it should be treated as such. If you can really sling a disc far, give the Ape a try.

17. Discraft Nuke – 13, 5, -1, 3

Best for: intermediate, advanced players

The Discraft Nuke is great disc to wrap this list up with. Being one of the most popular drivers in the world, it is similar in flight pattern to the Zeus. It is a wide-rimmed distance disc that loves big distance flex shots, long straight shots with a hard fade, and tackling headwind (and still getting you distance) like nobody’s business.

Drivers Disc Soft

This disc will fly farther for you with less effort and will consistently get you 400+ foot drives if you have a big enough arm to handle it.

**Honorable Mention – Innova Valkyrie (not a distance driver)

Best for: all skill levels

Yes, I know what I’ve done. I’ve put a fairway/control driver on a list of distance drivers. But before you riot and bring out the fire and pitchforks, just hear me out for a minute…

Did you know that the Valkyrie is one of the former distance world record-holders?

If you did, good on you. If not, please believe that I’m telling you the truth. In 2002, disc golf pro Christian Sandstrom threw his DX Valkyrie a total of 820 feet! It then held that record for a decade. Nowadays, the distance drivers we have can easily out fly a DX Valkyrie. But it’s still pretty impressive and makes the Valkyrie a decent choice to have as a fairway/control driver.

Overall

The 17 drivers listed in this post are some of the farthest flying disc golf discs on the planet. They were literally made to go the distance. But getting that distance is completely up to you. Nothing is guaranteed.

The skill needed to make these discs really fly takes a tremendous amount of effort, practice, and patience. But if you can consistently get better, getting the distance you want out of these discs will be easy. So get out there and practice up!
